Mighty Mukuru Wanderers on Saturday beat Santhe Admarc 5-0 to advance to the semifinals of the 2023 FDH Bank Cup.
Francis Mkonda, Isaac Kaliati, Francisco Madinga, Vitumbiko Kumwenda, and Vincent Nyangulu each scored a goal for Wanderers, securing their team’s comfortable victory and a spot in the semifinals of the 2023 FDH Bank Cup “Pachema.”
Wanderers will now face Mafco FC in the semifinals, while the other semifinal match will feature FCB Nyasa Big Bullets against Dedza Dynamos.
The highly anticipated semifinal matches are scheduled to take place on September 2 and 3, 2023.
Expressing his delight with the team’s performance, Coach Mark Harrison of Mighty Mukuru Wanderers praised his players for their excellent performance in the second half.
“We were excellent, especially in the second half, where we scored four goals. Although we could have done better in the first half, we only scored one goal. Now that we have secured a spot in the semifinals, we know it won’t be an easy game against Mafco FC. They are a strong side, and everybody wants to be in the final. We need to instil a winning mentality in our players week in and week out, regardless of the opponent,” said Harrison.
On the other hand, McDonald Matanje, the Coach for Santhe Admarc, accepted the defeat and acknowledged that his team was outplayed in all departments.
“We were outplayed in all departments by our opponents. However, this defeat serves as motivation for our team as we progress to the quarterfinals of the FDH Bank Cup. We will go back, correct our mistakes, and come back stronger next season,” said Matanje.
