Pasuwa Names 23-Man Squad for Ethiopia Friendlies

Flames head coach Kalisto Pasuwa has named a 23-man squad for Malawi’s upcoming international friendly matches against Ethiopia, scheduled for 6 and 9 June 2026 in Ethiopia.

The two matches will form part of the Flames’ continued preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The squad features 14 foreign-based players, including Luciano Matthew Rundles of Kalonji Soccer Academy, who has earned his maiden national team call-up. Christopher Kumwembe and Francisco Madinga have also received their first call-ups under Pasuwa.

Pasuwa said the technical panel has decided to assess more players before the qualifiers begin.

“Like I said, we know them already, we know their weaknesses and strengths. We thought we should give others a chance so that we can have a pool before we play our qualifiers,” said Pasuwa.

The Flames are expected to regroup in Blantyre before travelling to Ethiopia for the two friendly matches.
