Northern Region affair in FDH Bank Semifinal

Super League giants Ekwendeni Hammers and Northern Region Football League side Rumphi United will face each other in an all-northerners affair in the FDH Bank Cup Seminal following their victories in Saturday’s quarterfinal matches.

Hammers beat Ntopwa FC 2-0 while Rumphi United whipped Dedza Young Soccer 4-1.

At the Mzuzu Stadium, Jack Maulana scored Hammers first goal just eight minutes into the game and Ntopwa tried to press hard in search of an equaliser but to no avail.

Ekwendeni hammered the last nail through Edgar Mgagama in the 91st minute.

At Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe, Rumphi opened the score sheet through Foster Kanyenda in the seventh minute before Festus Chikwezga added the second two minutes later.

Trouble Kajani and  Gerald Ngwira scored the other two goals for Rumphi while Dedza’s consolation goal was scored by Ernest Mdeza through a spotkick.

On Sunday Be Forward Wanderers will host Mafco FC at Kamuzu Stadium to decide which team will face the winner between Silver Strikers and Nyasa Big Bullets, who will play on August 18, in the other Semifinal.
