Mwaungulu wins Super League player of the seasons

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets playmaker Patrick Mwaungulu won the 2023 TNM Super League player of the season and best midfielder awards after being voted by fans and a panel of judges to win the accolades.

Mwaungulu, speaking during the awards ceremony at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre on Friday, said if it was not for the support from his teammates and coaches, he could not have won the awards.

“The technical panel led by head coach Kalisto Pasuwa has been supportive not only to me but the rest of the squad. To my teammates they were always there for me. We played as a team. As a family we won and lost together without pointing fingers at each other,” he said.

In other awards, Pasuwa was named coach of the season while Zanaco-bound Bangwe All Stars attacker Robert Gomez Saizi won the rookie of the season award.

Bullets new signing Innocent Nyasulu was voted goalkeeper of the season after helping Mighty Wakawaka Tigers to avoid relegation.

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers skipper Stanley Sanudi won the best defender award while Dedza Dynamos striker Clement Nyondo won the golden boot award.

In media awards, The Nation Newspaper trio Bobby Kabango, Joy Ndovi and Garry Chirwa were named best photographer, best print reporter and best analyst respectively.

Patrick Simango of MBC won the best radio reporter while Hanky Chimtengo of Mibawa Television won a similar award for TV category.

Anthony Isaiah won the best online reporter while Bright Kanyama of Zodiak was voted best commentator.Mwaungulu
