Malawi Under 17 Teams intensifies Cosafa preps

The Malawi Under 17 boys and girls teams have intensified their preparations for the forthcoming COSAFA Under 17 Championships .

The regional tournaments are scheduled to take place in Johannesburg South Africa from December 4 to 15, 2024.

Initially the tournaments were set to take place in Mozambique but  Cosafa have indicated the tournament have moved to South Africa Africa.

The boys tournament will serve as a COSAFA qualifier for the 2025 Under 17 African Cup of Nations.

The two teams commenced their camping on Sunday, November 17, and are expected to conclude their training this weekend before departure for South Africa.

Head Coach for Under 17men’s team, Enos Chatama, expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress saying the preparations are going on very well.

“First and foremost, we need to build a team before thinking about results. We should not talk more; we are still under preparation. We have three to four days before we wrap up our preparations, but things are looking good,” said Chatama.

Linda Kasenda, Head Coach of the Under-17 women’s team said: “All these girls are actively involved with their clubs so their level of fitness is perfect which has helped them to settle in quickly. We will build a team that will go and compete at the tournament.”
