FAM appleas for Beach Soccer support

The Football Association of Malawi President Walter Nyamilandu has appealed to the Corporate World and Malawians to support Beach Soccer in the country.

Nyamilandu made the appeal at Kachere Township on Friday morning at the start of a beach soccer fundraising amd awareness campaign by the Beach Soccer Association.

He said Beach Soccer is a sport which can attract tourists to appreciate the beauty of  Malawi hence the need for Malawians to support the sport.

“This is a commendable initiative because alot of people in the country do not know about Beach Soccer in the country so this is the best way to sensitise Malawians about the sport.

“As FAM, we support Beach Soccer activities which include technical, refereeing and adminstration and the national team with the fund that we get from FIFA but we want more partners in the game because we want the sport to bounce back with power having noted the talent that we have in Malawi.

“Apart from entertainment, Beach Soccer also has the ability to attract tourists in the country as they can appreciate the beauty of our lake whilst watching the game along the shores so going forward, we want deveopl beach Soccer further,” said Nyamilandu.

Beach Soccer Association Chairperson Gift Chimbalanga said the association has planned alot of activities aimed at developing the game hence the need for more funds to finance their initiative.

“We have several beach Soccer activities lined up for this year which FAM alone cannot manage to support.

“We would like to participate in the Beach Soccer Afcon qualifiers and participate in other international tournaments so we need enough resources for for all this. Through the Cycling activity, we would like people to support us with whatever amount they have so that we uplift beach Soccer to another level.

BSA has involved two Cyclists who will cover a distance of 191km  from Blantyre to Mangochi to raise funds for the association.

According to Chimbalanga, the association is expecting to raise K30 Million through the Cycling activity.
