FAM committed to grow Women’s game

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) says it committed to develop Women’s Football and will continue investing in the game.

FAM Competitions and Marketing Committee chairperson Felister Dossi said this on Saturday afternoon during the launch of the 2024 Goshen-FAM Women’s Regional Leagues at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.

Dossi said: “ The women’s football game is growing at a very fast rate and as FAM, we are committing to continue  supporting the game and see it take Malawi far.”

She urged the National Women’s Football Association (NWFA)  to work with  FAM in lobbying other companies to start sponsoring the leagues in all the regions.

In her remarks,  NWAF Chairperson Adelaide Migogo said her committee is grateful FAM and Goshen City for sponsoring this league again.

Migogo highlighted that their expectations are high having increased the number of participating teams as ten teams will now tussle in each of the three regions from the previous eight.

During season opening match, Southern Region defending Champions Kukoma Ntopwa Women defeated Bvumbwe Women 11-0.
