Women’s Regional League Titles Head for Final Day Drama

Title battles in the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Central and Southern Region Women’s Leagues are set for thrilling final-day conclusions this weekend, while in the Northern Region the remaining fixtures will be dead rubbers after Luwinga Ladies secured the title with a game to spare.

In the Central Region, the championship will be decided between leaders Fact Academy and second-placed Creck Sporting Ladies, with just one point separating the two sides heading into their final matches on Saturday. Fact Academy lead the eight-team league with 34 points from 13 matches and will face Hungry Lions away at Guzani (Chitsime Ground) in Lilongwe. Creck Sporting Ladies, who are on 33 points, will host Dedza Super Queens at Kasungu Stadium. Both matches will kick off at noon.

In the other fixture, Heroes Sporting Academy will face Chilinde Queens at the Kamuzu Institute of Sports DAPP Ground.

In the Southern Region, the title race remains wide open with three teams still in contention. Chitoliro Heroines lead the standings with 30 points after 13 matches, just one point ahead of Ekhaya Women and Allan Ladies, who are tied on 29 points.

Chitoliro Heroines will conclude their campaign against fourth-placed Ndirande Soccer Giants at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre on Sunday at 14:00. Meanwhile, Ekhaya Women will face Allan Ladies in a decisive encounter at Kamuzu Stadium at the same time.

Elsewhere in the South, Bvumbwe FC will host Fomo Ladies at Bvumbwe Ground in Thyolo, while Nsuwadzi Queens will take on Zomba City Lionesses at Nsuwadzi Ground.
