Malawi Under-17 National Team Head Coach, Enos Chatama, says his charges are fully prepared to face Zambia today in their second Group B match of the TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations | COSAFA Qualifiers.
Speaking after the team’s final training session at Alex Sports Complex in Harare, Chatama said the Junior Flames are eager to build on their opening-day victory.
“The boys are in good shape, and we have corrected the mistakes made in our previous game. They understand the importance of tomorrow’s match because a win will help us ease the pressure before the last group game,” he explained.
Chatama, however, warned his players against complacency.
“It will not be an easy game. Zambia will be looking for their first win, but we are prepared to fight for three points,” he added.
Malawi sits second in Group B with three points, level with leaders South Africa but behind on goal difference. Zambia lost their opener 4-0 to South Africa and will be desperate to bounce back.
The Junior Flames will be banking on the confidence from their 3-1 victory over Madagascar in the opener as they push for a semifinal spot and keep alive their dream of qualifying for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
