Mighty Wanderers FC will face Tanzania’s Simba Sporting Club in the preliminary round of the 2026/27 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League following a draw conducted on Thursday afternoon in Cairo, Egypt.
The Nomads will start the campaign at home between 4 and 6 September before travelling to Tanzania for the second leg, scheduled between 11 and 13 September.
The winner between Wanderers and Simba will face the winner of the tie between 15 De Agosto and Fomboni De Moheli in the next round.
Reacting to the draw, Mighty Wanderers head coach Bob Mpinganjira welcomed the pairing, describing it as an opportunity for his side to prove its worth on the continental stage.
“To us, it is a great opportunity. I believe we have the potential not only to participate but also to compete. We did not do well last year in the CAF Confederation Cup, but I believe we took lessons from that campaign and we should be able to apply them and improve this year,” said Mpinganjira.
Wanderers captain Emmanuel Nyirenda said the team believes everything is possible in football and will work hard to make a strong impression in this year’s competition.
Nyirenda said he will encourage his teammates to put in extra effort as the Nomads prepare for the continental assignment.
