The 2016 TNM Super League kicked off last weekend on high note.
Defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets rolled off their title defence campaign with a goalless draw against Moyale Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.
The People’s Team had a chance to win the game when they were awarded a penalty in the second half, but Muhammad Sulumba’s spot-kick was kept out by Moyale goalminder Juma Chikwenga.
Last season’s runners-up Mafco edged Mzuni 1-0 while Civo United showed strong charecter by coming from behind to hold Kamuzu Barracks to a two-all draw.
On Sunday, Be Forward Wanderers came from behind to beat Silver Strikers 2-1 at Silver Stadium.
Duncan Nyoni put the Bankers ahead in the 25th minute from a Lucky Malata freekick, but the Nomads equalised in the 33rd minute through Francis Mulimbika.
Former Silver forward Peter Wadabwa struck the winner for Wanderers following a cross from Nigerian Bello Amosi.
At Kamuzu Stadium, Azam Tigers survived rookies Max Bullets’ scare when they came from behind to force a two-all draw.
In Lilongwe, new signing Victor Nyirenda’s lone goal ensured that Blue Eagles bagged full points against newcomers Dwangwa United.
