Super League is back

After an eight month break due to COVID-19 Pandemic the country’s elite League returned to action as the 2020/ 2021 TNM Super League season kicked off over the weekend.

The 2020 season was stopped a day before kickoff on March 20, 2020 due to COVID 19 and the football fraternity had to wait for such a long time with the season now changed to run from November to July.

The new season kicked off with eight matches across the country.

On Saturday defending champions playing out a goalless draw against Blue Eagles at the Kamuzu Stadium.

Karonga United played out a one all draw with Chitipa United while Zeliat Nkhoma’s lone goal gave Kamuzu Barracks a 1-0 win over Rockies Ekwendeni Hammers.

Macfo and Red Lions played out a one all draw while Tigers beat TN Stars 2-1.

On Sunday defender Ted Sumani rescued Wanderers a point in Mzuzu as they drew 1 all with Mzuzu Warriors who scored early in the game through Steve Madimba.

Civil Service FC claimed Capital City bragging rights after beating rivals Silver Strikers 2-1 with goals from Ranken Mwale and Raphael Phiri while Foster Biton scored the consolation for Silver Strikers.

Ntopwa United were the biggest winners in the opening week following their 3-0 win over Moyale Barracks and they sit top of the table on goal difference.
