Sunday Airtel Top 8 Quarterfinal Preview

The Airtel Top 8 quarterfinal action concludes on Sunday, 12 July 2026, with two decisive second-leg encounters as four teams battle for places in the semifinals.

Creck Sporting will host Mighty Wanderers at Aubrey Dimba Stadium, while Karonga United will welcome Silver Strikers at Karonga Stadium.

Creck Sporting vs Mighty Wanderers

Creck Sporting face a tough assignment against Mighty Wanderers after losing the first leg 2-0 at Mpira Stadium on 14 June.

Second-half goals from Blessings Mwalilino and Lameck Mithi gave Wanderers a strong advantage heading into the return leg.

Creck Sporting will need to score at least three unanswered goals to advance to the semifinals, while Wanderers will be looking to protect their lead and avoid complacency.

Creck Sporting head coach Ernest Mtawali said his side is ready for the challenge.

“We know Wanderers have the quality and history, but we have prepared well and our objective is to get a good result at all cost,” said Mtawali.

Mighty Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira said his charges must remain disciplined despite carrying a two-goal advantage.

“We want to be disciplined, play our football and put ourselves in a strong position, while avoiding complacency,” said Mpinganjira.

Karonga United vs Silver Strikers

At Karonga Stadium, Karonga United will be aiming to overturn a 2-0 first-leg defeat against Silver Strikers.

The Bankers won the first leg through a Charles Chipala brace, giving them a comfortable advantage ahead of the return match.

Karonga United must win by at least three goals without reply to qualify for the semifinals, while Silver will be looking to defend their advantage and manage the game professionally away from home.

Karonga United interim coach Chris Chimkwita said playing at home gives his side belief.

“Playing at home gives us confidence. We know Silver Strikers are a strong team, but we are prepared to fight for every ball,” said Chimkwita.

Silver Strikers coach Peter Mgangira has warned his players against complacency, saying the tie is not yet over.

“Knockout football requires patience and discipline. Our aim is to protect the result and not underrate Karonga United, who will be playing at home despite our first-leg win,” said Mgangira.
