The Standard Bank Knockout Cup semi-final line-up is complete following Big Bullets’ 1-0 win over Moyale Barracks on Sunday at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
Bullets will meet Civo United who beat Dedza Young Soccer 2-0 last Friday at the same venue.
Diverson Mlozi scored the lone important goal in the 56th minute when he took advantage of a communication breakdown between Moyale goalkeeper Juma Chikwenga and defender Andrew Mitengo.
In the match between Civo and Dedza, Gerald Nkugula struck in the third minute before Nelson Kangunje sealed the victory for the civil servants just before half time.
Mighty Be Forward Wanderers also recovered from two straight league losses to edge Red Lions 1-0 via Luka Milanzi’s strike at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Saturday to book a semi-final date against Blue Eagles who ousted current holders Silver Strikers 1-0 at Silver Stadium in the capital.
Gilbert Chirwa claimed the priceless goal for Eagles mid-way the second half when he headed home John ‘CJ’ Banda’s free kick.
Interestingly, three of the four quarter-final matches ended in 1-0 margins.
According to Football Association of Malawi (FAM) competitions manager Gomezgani Zakazaka, the semi-finals are slated for the weekend of October 17-18 at venues to be announced later.
