Songwe, Embangweni Set for NDL Matchweek Four Showdown

The Matchweek Four fixture between second-placed Songwe Border United and third-placed Embangweni United is set to headline the NBS Bank National Division League this weekend, as the two sides face off at Rumphi Stadium on Saturday, 13 June.

Both teams are tied on seven points, separated only by goal difference, having each won two matches and drawn once. They are also level on points with leaders Ndirande Stars, making Saturday’s encounter crucial in the early title race.

Ndirande Stars, who currently sit at the summit, will be at home on Sunday, 14 June, when they host seventh-placed Ntaja United at Mpira Stadium. Ntaja have four points and will be looking to close the gap on the early pace setters.

Fourth-placed Extreme FC, who have six points, will host ninth-placed Mzuzu City Hammers at Owen Malijani Stadium. The Hammers are among four teams tied on four points, alongside Mighty Tigers, Ntaja United and Chilobwe United.

Chilobwe United, who registered their first win of the season last weekend against Namitete Zitha, will return to Mpira Stadium on Saturday to host bottom-placed Changalume Barracks, who are still searching for their first point of the campaign.

Namitete Zitha, also without a point, will travel to Zomba Stadium on Saturday to face Mighty Tigers, while Bangwe All Stars will open Matchweek Four on Friday, 12 June, when they host fifth-placed FOMO FC at Mpira Stadium.

With just two points separating the top five teams, Matchweek Four is expected to produce another competitive round as teams continue jostling for early control in the second season of the NBS Bank National Division League.
