The Football Association of Malawi will from Thursday conduct a two-day refresher coaching course for Super League Coaches with the aim of enhancing their knowledge ahead of the 2023 season.
FAM Technical Director Benjamin Kumwenda said the course, which will be held at Mpira Village in Blantyre, will dwell much on updating the coaches on emerging issues in football coaching.
“We have well trained coaches in the top flight league who are lagging behind in some areas due to the global changes in football so we want them to be at par with international standards.
“During the course, the coaches will undergo technical report writing session where we want them to understand how they can present a good technical report to their bosses.
“They will also learn video analysis. With the games being beamed on Mpira TV now, there is need for Coaches to understand how they can analyse their players’ performances so that they know where to work on for them to perform better. But they will also be able to analyse their opponents. This requires special skills,” said Kumwenda.
He added that the coaches will also be appraised of the Flames coaching philosophy.
Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) Lecture Dr Bhekuzulu Khumalo, Flames Coach Mario Marinica and Kumwenda will facilitate the course.
Apart from the Super League Coaches, Junior national teams head coaches and Senior Women’s National team head Coach will also take part in the course.
The last refresher course for Super League coaches was done in February 2020.
