Silver Fall as Mzuzu City Hammers Book Castel Cup quarterfinal Spot

Silver Strikers’ Castel Cup campaign came to an end after Mzuzu City Hammers staged a spirited comeback to claim a 2 to 1 victory at Rumphi Stadium and secure a place in the quarterfinals.

Silver Strikers took the lead in the 23rd minute through Innocent Shema, but the hosts responded strongly after the break. Aubrey Simbi restored parity seven minutes before the hour mark to give Mzuzu City Hammers renewed belief.

The decisive goal arrived in the 68th minute when Isaah Nyirenda found the back of the net to seal victory. The result sets up a quarterfinal clash between Mzuzu City Hammers and holders Mighty Wanderers.

Elsewhere, Goshen City Dedza Dynamos advanced to the semifinals following a 2 to 0 win over Ekhaya FC at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.

Second half goals from Luke Chima and Gift Magola proved decisive for the Dedza based side, who will now await the winner between Chitipa United and Blue Eagles in the semifinals.
