Silver Strikers FC last weekend blew up a chance to go top of the TNM Super League when they were held to a barren draw by Kamuzu Barracks in Lilongwe.
The Bankers, who now have 20 points from 10 games, needed to win the match to dislodge leaders Blue Eagles who still lead by a point and have a game in hand.
Silver’s coach Lovemore Fazili expressed his disappointment with the result.
“We had a chance to go to the top but we didn’t rise to the occasion, we were simply not good enough on the day,” he said.
Moyale Barracks, who were also held to a goalless draw at home by Azam Tigers, are still third with 18 points from 11 games.
On Saturday, Azam Tigers’ added more misery to league anchors Karonga United with a 1-0 win. Bonda Mpinganjira scored the lone goal.
Tigers are now fourth also with 18 points from 10 games while Karonga are still winless in eight matches, from which they have collected only three points.
Mafco failed to climb to third position when they lost 1-0 to Epac. They have now dropped to fifth from fourth with 17 points from nine games.
