Silver Strikers at the weekend displaced TNM Super League pacesetters Blue Eagles from the summit of the 16-team log table following their 2-0 win over Epac FC at Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe.
Following the win, Silver now have 19 points from nine games—just a point ahead of Eagles who, however, have a game in hand.
Binwell Katinji and Blessings Tembo were on target for the Bankers.
Mzuzu University (Mzuni) also climbed to third position following their 1-0 win over Karonga United at Mzuzu Stadium on Sunday.
Lughindiko Mushani scored the lone goal of the match.
Mzuni now have 16 points from nine games.
It was a bad outing for Karonga who the previous day suffered a 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Moyale Barracks.
Rookies Dwangwa United registered their first win in the campaign with a 2-1 victory over Azam Tigers on Saturday.
Jack Chiona was the hero for Dwangwa after scoring both goals whereas Yamikani Chester was on target for Kau Kau Boys.
But it proved to be a weekend of mixed fortunes for the canefields outfit as they went down 1-0 to Wizards FC the following goal courtesy of Bernard Chimaimba’s strike.
Dwangwa are third from the bottom with six points from nine games while Wizards are 10th with 10 points from seven games—a place above Be Forward Wanderers who have eight points from the same number of games.
MTV Max Bullets had a poor outing to the capital city where they lost 2-0 and 1-0 to Kamuzu Barracks and Civo United respectively.
