Buoyed by their 2-1 win over capital city rivals Silver Strikers last weekend, Silver Strikers invade Blantyre for potentially tough and tricky TNM Super League fixtures against leaders Big Bullets and bottom-placed Fisd Wizards on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
On Saturday, the Bankers engage Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre before travelling to Nchalo in Chikwawa on Sunday to face Wizards at Kalulu Stadium.
Silver, who are third on the log table with 35 points from 20 games, will be hoping to close in on Bullets who have 44 points from 19 games, seven points clear of second-placed Mafco who are on bye.
Bullets are also fired up by their 3-1 win over Moyale Barracks last Sunday which followed their first league loss to Airborne Rangers 1-2.
Bullets will be without two key players—defender Sankhani Mkandawire and striker Jaffalie Chande—who are serving two yellow cards suspension. They have also been without their key goalkeepers Owen Chaima and Vincent Gona owing to injuries.
But their upbeat technical director Billy Tewesa said they still have enough armoury to contain the Bankers.
Chiukepo Msowoya and Burundian Niyikiza Aimable carry Bullets’ hopes while the Bankers will rely on joint leading scorer Green Harawa, former Bullets talisman Victor Limbani and Blessings Tembo.
In Sunday’s game, Wizards will also be buoyed by their only second league win over Airborne last weekend which gave them hopes that they can avoid relegation.
In a bid to inspire them, Fisd management has promised the players an additional K5 000 incentive each to their K15 000 normal game bonus.
The club’s chairperson Mike Tembo said another win could see them sniff the comfort zone.
Wizards have a pool of up-and-coming players in the likes of Levison Maganizo, Ernest Tambe, Isaac Mwale, Precious Msosa and Talekeleni Joseph, but they will be without their talisman Patrick Phiri who is serving two yellow cards.
In other games, the Mzuzu City derby between moyale and Mzuni is expected to Mzuzu Stadium while Airborne Rangers host Dedza Young Soccer at Chitowe Stadium in Nkhotakota.
