Silver Strikers invade the Southern Region this weekend in their bid to maintain their grip at the top of the TNM Super League.
On Saturday, the Bankers engage league anchors MTV Max Bullets at Kalulu Stadium in Nchalo while on Sunday they face a daunting task against defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Silver top the table with 26 points from 12 games, a point ahead of second-placed Mafco, who have played 13 games. The Bankers coach Lovemore Fazili acknowledged that they expect a tough encounter on Sunday.
“Saturday’s game will be a bit tricky because Max Bullets are desperate to register their first win but we expect Sunday’s game to be even tougher considering Bullets’ good home record.
“Nevertheless, we are ready for both matches and our aim is to win both,” said Fazili.
Max, who are winless in 13 matches with four draws and nine losses, are relishing the opportunity of chalking their maiden win.
“We are ready for Silver and it woudn’t be sweeter than registering our first win against the league leaders,” said Max Bullets coach Trevor Kajawa.
In other games today, Be Forward Wanderers will take on Blue Eagles at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday while Mzuzu University (Mzuni) FC will host Wizards FC at Mzuzu Stadium.
Wanderers are seventh on the ladder with 20 points from 11 games while Eagles are third with 25 points from 12 fixtures. Mzuni are sixth with 21 points from 13 matches as Wizard are 13th with 12 points from 12 games.
The Nomads go into this afternoon’s showdown buoyed by four straight league wins.
