Scorchers set for Seychelles match

The Malawi National Women’s team are set for their international friendly match against Seychelles tomorrow at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.

The Scorchers secured the international friendly match to boost their preparations ahead of this year’s Hollywoodbets Cosafa Women’s Championship.

Malawi and Seychelles will play two friendly matches on Monday and Thursday.

Head Coach Lovemore Fazili said: ” Our preparations have been going on well and the players are eager to play tomorrow’s friendly match. The match has come at a right time as it will help us fully assess the players ahead of the Cosafa tournament as our colleagues are also busy with Afcon matches. Though Seychelles are  low ranked than us they will still give us a good game which we believe will boost the girls’ confidence and morale since some of them are also new. Our aim at this year’s tournament is to do better and make it to the finals and even be the first squad to bring the trophy home,” said Fazili.

Meanwhile three foreign-based players are already in the country ahead of the tournament and will be available for the two friendly matches.

China-based Temwa Chawinga, DRC-based Sabina Thom and Chimwemwe Madise from Zambia’s Lusaka Dynamos are set to join camp on Sunday evening.
