Scorchers face Ghana in Morocco

As the Scorchers preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying match against Angola continue, the team has secured yet another friendly match against Ghana on Saturday evening in Morocco.

This will be the Scorchers’ sixth international friendly match the team this year, having met Zambia and South Africa twice each in February and April, respectively and Morocco last Thursday.

This is another milestone for the Scorchers as they face a West African opponent for the first time.

Head Coach Lovemore Fazili says the match against Ghana comes at the right time as his technical panel is still assessing the combination of the players.

“This is a good development and the game is going to help us to quickly rectify the problems that we saw during the match against Morocco.

“The areas that we are focusing now are in goals and defence as we have seen that our Strikers are able to create chances. So we will just polish up on finishing but for defending, there is need for more work so that we avoid conceding.

“Ghana is a good team and though we don’t know how they are playing; I believe that they are going to give us a good run. We are targeting to assess the combination of our players ahead of the crucial match against Angola,” he said.

The Black Queens are in Morocco for a two-week training camp in preparation for the upcoming Wafcon finals which will kick off on July 5th in the same country.
