Malawi Women’s National Football Team wrapped up their two-match international friendly series against Tanzania with a goalless draw at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.
The Scorchers produced a solid performance, controlling long spells of the match and creating several scoring opportunities, but could not find the breakthrough.
Head coach Lovemore Fazili said he was satisfied with the team’s overall display and consistency throughout the match.
“The performance itself was very good. Excellent performance so far. When we started the game and when we finished the game, the performance was the same. From goalkeeper, defence, midfield and strikers, everyone did very well,” said Fazili.
He admitted that finishing remains the main area for improvement, noting that the team again created chances but failed to convert.
“It’s just the same thing that happened on Wednesday. We had plenty of chances, but we couldn’t utilise them. But all in all, I’m happy with every player who was given a chance to play. The coordination was marvellous,” he said.
The Scorchers conclude their FIFA international friendly tour of Tanzania having lost the first match 1-0 before responding with a draw in the second encounter. The team will now shift focus to the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
