Salima win bronze at Schools Championship

Salima Secondary School have finished third at the just ended inaugural CAF African Schools Championship in Durban, South Africa.

Blessings Sakala, Ishumael Bwanali, and Latumbikika Kayira were on target for Salima as they defeated Benin’s CEG Sainte Rita 3-1 in the third place play-off as

Andriano Ahouissanou scored a consolation goal for the CEG.

In the semifinal played earlier in the day, the team lost 2-0 to Guinea’s CS Ben Sekou Sylla, to miss the final match slot. Salima also suffered a 1-0 loss under CS Ben Sekou in the pool stage.

CS Ben Sekou Sylla are the winners of the Championship following their 5-4 post-match penalty win over hosts Clapham High School in the final as the match ended 1-all in regulation time.

Salima will return home with USD 150,000 for finishing third in the competition.

The Competition’s runners up winners will pocket USD 200, 000 while winners will receive USD 300,000. Salima claim bronze at Schools Championship.
