The fight for promotion into the flagship Super League continues in the second-tier regional leagues but for now it is Cobbe Barracks in the South, Dwangwa United in the Centre and Mchengautuwa in the North who are leading the log tables.
Cobbe Barracks lead the Nsejjere Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) Premier League with 36 points from 16 games while in the Chipiku Central Region Football Association Premier Division, Dwangwa United top the table with 37 points from 16 games.
In the Nsenjerre League, Max Bullets comes second with 29 points from 15 games whereas Nchalo United are third with 28 points from 17 games. Prison United and Evirom FC are fourth and fifth respectively with 28 points and 25 points so far.
McPeter Makwale is the centrepiece of Cobbe’s remarkable ride having scored 17 games, translating to a goal per game. He is the leading scorer followed by Innocent Selemani of BNC Produsak is second with 11 goals whereas Chisomo Kamulanje of Nyasa United is third with 10 goals.
Mwakwale says he has set his eyes to win the golden boot award this season. He attributed his performance to hard work during training.
In the Chipiku League, Dwangwa beat Maicc FC 2-0 and they now have 37 points from 16 games followed by Msundwe on 33 points from 17 games, Dowa United are third with 30 points from 17 matches and Support are fourth on 29 points from 16 games.
