Pasuwa Eyes Strong Finish Against Botswana

Flames head coach Kalisto Pasuwa has called for a strong response from his side as the Flames prepare to face Botswana in the third-place playoff of the Four Nations Tournament at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown.

Following the semi-final defeat to Zambia, the Flames have shifted focus to securing a podium finish against the hosts, who are also looking to bounce back after a 3-0 loss to Zimbabwe.

Pasuwa admitted that his side will miss key players, with captain Richard Mbulu ruled out due to injury, while Romania-based defender Charles Petro has returned to his club. There are also doubts over Lloyd Aaron, whose availability is uncertain due to club commitments.

Despite these setbacks, the Flames coach remains confident in the squad.

“It will affect us, yes, but this is a team. The boys who are available are fit and ready to play,” said Pasuwa.

The coach stressed the importance of balancing development with results.

“Yes, we are building a team, but we also need to start winning games,” he added.

Pasuwa also expressed satisfaction with the team’s mentality following the semi-final setback.

“The boys have responded well mentally, and that is important going into this match,” he said.

With both teams aiming to finish the tournament on a high, Malawi will be looking to bounce back, while Botswana seek redemption in front of their home supporters.
