Nyamilandu urges Wanderers to be United

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Walter Nyamilandu has urged the Mighty Mukuru Wanderers family to be united and work together towards improving the Club’s image.

Nyamilandu made the remarks at Mpira Stadium on Wednesday morning during the unveiling of Mukuru as the Club’s official sponsor.

He said ” Let me plead with the Wanderers family to avoid quarrelling because this will disturb the sponsorship. Mukuru is here to make a name and they wouldn’t like to have their name tarnished because of disagreements between the leadership and fans. So there is need for unity. Just like other teams are growing, it is my hope that Wanderers also have a vision to grow after this sponsorship.”

Minister of Youth and Sports Richard Chimwendo Banda hailed Mukuru for coming in to support Malawi football.

“I am very happy that Mukuru is here to support football because as government, we made it clear that alone we cannot support all sporting activities in Malawi and we agreed to open up to companies who want to support us.

“For along time football was taken as a social activity but things have changed as it now provides full time jobs to many young people.

“As we celebrate this sponsorship, I would also like to take this opportunity to plead with companies to come in support other clubs that are struggling for sponsorship,” said Chimwendo.

Mukuru is sponsoring Wanderers to the tune of K175 Million per year.
