NO fans for Super League matches

In a bid to control the spread of the Cocid-19 pandemic among football stakeholders, the Super League of Malawi has announced that this weekend’s Super League matches will be played without spectators.

This follows the resolutions by the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 that all gatherings should have a maximum of 100 people due to the upsurge of Covid-19 cases in the country.

According to a statement released by the Elite League Executive Committee on Wednesday, all week 8 matches will proceed as per the fixture with enhanced security to ensure that safety measures are observed.

“All games shall be played under closed sessions of not more than 100 people gatherings. We would like to assure all our stakeholders that safety and security at the match venues will be enhanced to ensure that all the measures are adhered to,” reads part of the statement signed by General Secretary Williams Banda.

Malawi has recorded a total of 7337 confirmed cases with 5787 recoveries and 1141 active cases as of Wednesday, January 6th.
