
Flames midfielder Robert Ng’ambi on Sunday scored his third goal in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) as his club Platinum Stars beat Esau Kanyenda’s Polokwane City 3-0.
Ng’ambi was introduced as a second-half substitute and netted the third for Dikwena with 12 minutes to full time..
He is now eight goals behind the leading scorer Collins Mbesuma of Mpumalanga Black Aces.
“I had gone quite a couple of matches and I was excited to find the back of the net,” said Ng’ambi.
His compatriot Robin Ngalande got a rare run after coming in as an 85th minute substitute while Kanyenda was also not featured by Polokwane.
Stars are fifth with 30 points from 17 games while Polokwane are 13th with 21 from 18 games.
Flames captain Limbikani Mzava played a full game for Aces on Saturday when they were held to a goalless draw by Bloemfontein Celtic.
Aces are third with 35 points from 18 games.
Micium Mhone’s Jomo Cosmos and Atusaye Nyondo’s University of Pretoria are stuck in the relegation zone on 14th and 15th positions respectively.
Cosmos lost to Chippa United 2-1 on Saturday and Mhone was substituted in the second half while Nyondo, who is reportedly injured, did not feature as his side lost 1-0 to Orlando Pirates.
Mamelodi Sundowns lead the table with 42 points from 18 matches.
