NBS National Division League Kicks Off in Mchinji

All is set for the kick-off of the inaugural NBS Bank National Division League as Mchinji Villa host Mitundu Baptist in the official launch match at Mchinji Community Ground on Saturday, May 24.

Football Association of Malawi’s Competitions and Communications Director, Gomezgani Zakazaka, expressed optimism ahead of the launch new second tier league.

“As FAM we are excited that finally our dream of setting a national second tier league is being realised. The importance of this league in our transforming the game agenda can not be over emphasized”.

“This league will help expose more players to a national platform, as previously we only had the Super League. More players, officials, and referees will be exposed. But also, teams will get a feel of what it takes to play in a national league before getting to the Super League. This will help the teams to get used to the expectations of playing at that level and prepare them for life in the elite League.”

The league was introduced under the transformation agenda to bridge the gap between the elite and promotion leagues.

FAM President Fleetwood Haiya is expected to President over the launch.
