National Women’s Championship group stages wrap this weekend

The inaugural FAM National women’s Championship group stages will be concluded this weekend with two group B matches in Lilongwe and Mzuzu.

Ascent Academy face DD Sunshine at Civo Stadium on Sunday in an encounter that will determine group B winners.

Both teams have already qualified for the semi-finals and are tied at nine points from three games.

However, Ascent have a superior goal difference of 15 against DD Sunshine’s 11.

With no point from the three games , Topik will face northern region defending champions CY Sisters at Mzuzu Stadium in a match that will just fulfil the fixture as it has no impact

The completion of group A fixtures last weekend saw Blantyre Zero and Skippers making it to the semi-finals having finished first and second respectively.

The Blantyre-based side finished top with seven points from three games while Skippers came second with six points.

According to the draw that was conducted in February, Blantyre Zero, being winners of group A, will face group B’s second placed team while the team that will be on top of Group will meet Skippers in the second semi-finals.
