Flames skipper Limbikani Mzava were on target for their respective South African clubs in the Nedbank Cup at the weekend.
Mzava scored the second goal for his team Mpumalanga Black Aces in a 2-0 win over Maritzburg United to qualify for the quarter-finals.
But Ng’ambi was unfortunate as his side Platinum Stars was booted out by Esau Kanyenda’s Polokwane City 2-1 despite him scoring the only goal for Dikwena.
Mzava scored from a free kick in the last minute of the match to double Aces advantage after Zambian striker Collins Mbesuma had given them the lead in the first half from a penalty.
The win ended Aces” six-game winless streak and was a relief to the team, in particular coach Muhshin Etugural and his Malawian assistant Patrick Mabedi.
“It was a timely relief after going for six games without a win,” said Mzava from South Africa.
