MMF Marine stun Dedza in Castel Cup

Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos FC become the fourth Super League side to be eliminated from the Castel Challenge cup by a lower league side after going down to  MMF Marine on penalties in the round of 16 on Sunday afternoon.
The two teams played out a goalless draw before the visitors emerged 5-4 winners from penalty kicks.
Joseph Balakasi missed his spot kick to give Marine a quarterfinal place in the competition while Ibrahim Sadick, Samson Tijan, Khumbo Banda and Gift Magola scored their penalties for Dedza.
Mphatso Kang’ombe, Saad Wasie, Innocent Msowoya, Montfort Khamula and Chimwemwe Kashoti all converted their spotkicks for the Premier division side.
Marine will  face either Hiltop FC or FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the quarterfinals.
Dedza join Mafco FC and Silver Strikers who lost to central Region side Panthers FC in the round of 32 and 16 respectively as well as Baka FC who lost to non league side Hiltop in the round of 32.
Dedza Coach Andrew Bunya said his team played well but they were just unlucky not to score any goal in regulation time.
“We played well but penalties can go either side congratulations to our opponents today and we wish them well in their next assignment in the competition,” Bunya said.
His counterpart Kenwood Nkhoma was a happy man with the result.
“We have dominated the game from the first half and we deserve this victory,” Nkhoma said.
He also applauded his goalkeeper Yes Nyirenda for the job well done throughout the game.
