Media Release: First FIFA Football Agent Exam application window closes tomorrow

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) hereby reminds all current Player Intermediaries (also known as Player Agents) and those interested to become FIFA player agents of the change in the FIFA Football Agent Regulations (FFAR) which came into force on 9 January 2023.

Under the new Regulations, to obtain a licence to act as a Football Agent, one would be required to apply to FIFA via the FIFA Agent Platform agents.fifa.com, comply with the eligibility requirements, successfully pass the exam conducted by FIFA and pay an annual fee to FIFA.

This means Agents have to pass an exam similar to the pre-2015 requirements as part of the new FFAR. The exam will be open book and multiple-choice questions; there will be 20 in total to answer in 60 minutes. The pass mark is expected to be 75% or 15 correct answers out of a possible 20.

The most important underlying themes of the exam will concern aspects such as rules on transfers, training compensation, working with minors, the agent licensing system, commission caps, conflicts of interests and the dsciplinary/legal system.

Further to this, the application window for the 1st FIFA Football Agent Exam scheduled for 19 April 2023 opened on 9 January 2023 and will conclude on Wednesday, 15 March 2023. Those interested to sit for the 1st exam should contact the FAM Licensing and Compliance Manager via email: casper.jangale@fam.mw or via mobile: 0999415909.
