Media Release: 2024 NBS bank Charity Shield Revenue Report

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) would like to report that the 2024 NBS Bank Charity Shield match between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers FC played on Saturday, 30th March 2024 at Bingu National Stadium was a success. The Charity Shield match revenue grossed MK88.4 million and net income was MK43.6 million.

The income and expenditure report below provides an overview of this year’s NBS Bank Charity Shield project.

Through the 2024 NBS Bank Charity Shield, FAM raised MK43.6 million which is 114% higher than MK20.4 million raised in 2023 and the highest since the Charity Shield was introduced in 2016. It is pleasing to note that the Charity Shield revenue continues to increase year-on-year which is also encouraging for the sponsor and FAM to channel the proceeds towards community projects with a great social impact. That said, this year’s proceeds will be used to invest in the education sector where NBS Bank and FAM through our technical implementing partners will construct sanitary facilities at yet to be identified primary school(s) in the central region.

Vote of Thanks

FAM would like to extend gratitude to Charity Shield Sponsors NBS Bank for doubling this year’s sponsorship from MK20 million to MK40 million which was used to cushion rising cost of match Organisation.

Finally, we would also like to thank participating teams, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers FC, the fans and media for the support rendered to make this project complete.
