Max Bullets have now climbed to the pinnacle of the Nsejjere Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) Premier Division after beating former TNM Super League side Evirom 1-0 at the weekend.
Innocent Hadji’s lone strike enabled Bullets overtake Cobbe Barracks FC from the top of the table. The match was played at Sedi ground.
Max Bullets now have 38 points from 18 games played so far. Cobbe, who were on bye, are now second with 36 points from the same number of games.
For the past two seasons Max Bullets have been finishing among the top three teams in the league.
In the Simama Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) Premier League, new entrants Nkhata Bay Stars on Sunday put up a gallant fight to hold leaders Chilumba Barracks to a one-all draw in Nkhata Bay.
Chilumba were the first to score through striker Gift Chakwana in the 32nd minute, but the hosts cancelled the lead through Brown Chabankha, six minutes later.
Despite dropping two points, Chilumba who were runners-up last season, are still topping the log table with 40 points from 15 games played.
Before Sunday’s match, Chilumba had won 13 and lost only one game to second-placed Karonga United who have 31 points.
In the Centre, the league is on recess after the end of the first round in which Dwangwa United finished at the top.
