Mario gives fringe players chance against Mauritius

Flames coach Mario Marinica has rested most of his senior players in Malawi’s last Group B match against Mauritius at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa.

The coach has rested Precious Sambani, Gabadinho Mhango, captain John Banda and Khuda Myaba who started in all the first two matches against Lesotho and Eswastini.

This means right back Stanley Sanudi will captain the side this afternoon.

Goalkeeper Clever Mkungula has retained the position after an impressive show in the last game.

Mafco centre back Paul Ndhlovu and Civo’s Kelvin Kadzinje have also been maintained.

Mafco’s Daniel Chimbalanga will so have his debut.

Nyasa Big Bulletd blossoming midfielder Patrick Mwaungulu starts as well this evening.

He will partner his teammate at Bullets Chimwemwe Idana in the midfield.

Stein Davie will lead the front line alongside Chiukepo Msowoya and Peter Banda.

Both the Flames and Mauritius are already out of the competition.

The battle for quarter-finals qualification is between Lesotho and Eswastini who clash in the other Group B match.

Lesotho lead the group with six points after wins over Malawi and Mauritius.

Eswatini have four points from victory over Mauritius and a draw against Malawi.
