Malawi Under 20 Coach Maggie Chombo says her charges will not sit back in their FIFA World Cup Qualifier return fixture against Central Republic on Sunday despite holding a two-goal cushion.
Malawi won the first leg 3-1 at home last Sunday and face CAR on a neutral turf in Doula, Cameroun for the return leg.
“We are going into this match with the same mentality as the first leg — to attack and control the game,”
“We know it’s not going to be an easy game, but our approach remains the same. We are not here to defend the lead. We want to win,” said Chombo
On the inclusion of Faith Chimzimu and France based Rose Kabzere, Chombo said the duo were part of the plan from inception but missed the first leg due to other commitments.
” We had them in our plans but Faith was in Europe undergoing trials and Rose was also committed to her club”
The winner of the tie will face the winner between Djibouti and South Sudan in September.
