The Malawi Schools Boys and Girls national teams have this morning left for Zimbabwe for the CAF African Schools Championship-Cosafa Qualifiers which kicks off tomorrow.
Coaches Moses Chimbetete and Linda Kasenda who are heading the Boys and Girls teams respectively have travelled with squads of 21 Boys and 15 Girls by road through Mwanza Border.
Team Malawi ( Both Girls and Boys) is in group A alongside hosts Zimbabwe, Botswana, Eswatini and Mozambique and Angola.
The boys will open their campaign against Zimbabwe while the girls’ first match is against Mozambique on Thursday.
According to this year’s rules, the boys will play 11 aside on a full pitch while girls will play 8 aside on a half pitch.
Winners in each group will meet in the final while runners up will meet in the third-place play-off.
The overall winners in boys and girls’ categories will represent Cosafa at the CAF African Schools Championship Finals.
