The Malawi National schools boys and girls national teams went into camp on Friday in preparation for the CAF African Schools Championship-Cosafa Qualifiers to take place in Harare, Zimbabwe between 14-16 December.
Unlike last year when individual schools represented the country in the competition, this year national select squads will be the flag bearers at the competition whose winners will qualify for the African championship to be held next year.
Malindi Girls Secondary School and Salima Secondary School represented Malawi last year.
Moses Chimbetete is the Head Coach for the boys team while Linda Kasenda is heading the girls team technical panel.
Malawi is in group A alongside hosts Zimbabwe, Botswana, Eswatini and Mozambique while group B has South Africa, Angola, Zambia, Namibia and Madagascar in both categories.
Kasenda has called in camp 19 players while Chimbetete has 30 players who are currently camping at Blantyre Secondary School and training at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.
According to this year’s rules, the boys will play 11 aside on a full pitch while girls will play 8 aside on a half pitch.
The two coaches are expected to release the final squads of 2o players for the boys and 15 players for he girls on Monday.
