Malawi lose to Zambia in Cosafa Semis

The Malawi 17 national football team 2021 Cosafa Championship hopes were ended on Tuesday morning after losing p 3-1to Zambia in the competition’s first semifinal match played at Setsoto Stadium in Maseru.

Zambia and Malawi shared spoils in the first half with both teams pressing for a leading goal which which didn’t come by the end of the first 45 minutes.

Andrew Sabobo Banda opened the scor sheet for Zambia just five minutes into the second and Mathews Banda netted in another goal eight minutes later. 

Malawi’s Blessings Kanowa scored Malawi’s only goal of the match at 68 minutes before Joseph Banda came in with a third goal for Zambia three minutes before the final whistle.

The Junior Flames will this evening face Eswatini in the third place play-off while Zambia and Angola will meet in the final match tomorrow.
