Malawi Beach Soccer Team start AFCON Preps

The Malawi nation beach soccer team has started camp in Salima preparation for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of nations to take place in Egytp between 19-26 October 2026.

The team went into camp on Saturday and  coach Willy Kumilambe has named a provisional 18-man squad for the camp.

Kumilambe emphasized the importance of hard work and dedication from the players.

“I expect all the players to give their best because we are preparing to face some of the best teams on the continent..

“We need to correct the weaknesses we showed during the qualifiers against Burundi, and this camp will focus on addressing those areas to ensure we are ready for the competitions,” he adds.

Kumilambe also called on the nation to rally behind the team, stating that the support of both the Football Association of Malawi and the general public is crucial for success.

“This team has shown great potential over the past two years, but we need full backing of the nation to achieve our goal and make Malawi proud.”

The 10-day camp will be concluded on 15th October, 2024 and team is expected to depart on 16th October 2024 to Egypt

Malawi is in Group B alongside Senegal, Mozambique and Mauritania.
