Malawian Airlines has donated a return air ticket to FAM’s Competitions Manager and Media officer Gomezgani Zakazaka to enable him travel with the Flames its media officer at the Cosafa Cup in South Africa.
This is the first time ever that the Flames will be traveling with a media personnel who will be responsible for updating FAM media channels as well as updating the local media on the Flames exploits in the rainbow nation.
Making the donation at the FAM offices at Chiwembe Technical Centre in Blantyre, Malawian Airlines Traffic and Sales Manager Rodwell Magwaya said they decided to sponsor the ticket to ensure the Flames get full coverage at the tournament.
“We are a national carrier and we want other national carriers like the Flames to be given full support and getting wide coverage is one of them. We felt it is proper that a team like the Flames should always be accompanied by media personnel.
“Malawians should be getting firsthand information from someone on the ground,” said Magwaya.
FAM Finance and Administration Manager Chris Mdolo thanked Malawian Airlines for the gesture saying it will help fans follow the Flames in detail.
“As an association it has always been a wish to have a media officer accompany the team everywhere they go so that people back home are updated on events as they unfold away. It becomes a challenge in most cases to get results or facts about the Flames trip due to lack of media personnel on the ground.
“We thank Malawian Airlines for the gesture and we believe this will turn into a long term relationship,” said Mdolo.
A journalist by profession with nine years’ experience in main stream sports journalism, Zakazaka will be writing for FAM’s website; www.fam,mw, FAM Facebook page and twitter account @FaMalawi.
He will also be writing stories, doing radio and TV interviews which will be circulated to the local media.
