Mafco dislodge Eagles from second position

Wadabwa was on target for Wanderers

Mafco on Sunday moved to second position of the TNM Super League after beating Blue Eagles 2-1 at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa.
The league’s leading scorer Richard Mbulu drew first blood for Mafco while Zasher Mnong’oneza scored the second goal.

The win saw the Nomads jump two places up to seventh in the 16-team league.
They now have 20 points from 11 game and this was their fourth successive league win.
Rafiq Mussa drew opened the scoresheet barely 35 seconds into match. It was probably the fastest goal of the season so far.
In the 49th minute, substitute Jaffalie Chande scored the second goal when he calmly fired the ball home from Isaac ‘Tcheya’ Kaliati’s curling cross.
Nine minutes later, left back Francis Mlimbika scored a spectacular goal from almost 40 metres out to beat Wizards’ ‘keeper Wanipa Gondwe.
Pater Wadabwa then closed the scoresheet from a penalty, awarded after Kaliati was fouled in the box.
“We are happy with the win, it shows the team is now stable. We will keep on working hard so that we get back into contention for the title,” said Wanderers coach Eddingtone Ng’onamo.
His Wizards’ counterpart McDonald Yobe described it as their worst performance so far this season.
