Kumilambe eyes 5th place

The Malawi National Beach Soccer team Coach Willy Kumilambe says his charges are geared to challenge for the  Beach Soccer AFCON 5th position on Wednesday.

Kumilambe said this ahead of the 5th and 6th place classification match against Uganda at the Arena de Vilankulo.

He said his subjects want to go home with a positive feeling hence the need to win their final match.

“It’s  about the country’s pride. This is a very important game because we are fighting for number five after losing our first two games . We would want to be on position 5.

“I want to give every player an international exposure so we are obviously going to make changes in tomorrow’s  game, but we will use the boys we feel are going to help us achieve the desired result,” said Kumilambe.

Uganda finished third in group B after they lost 10-1 to defending Champions  Senegal and 6-2 to Egypt. They registered a 6-3 win against Madagascar in the group stages. Malawi on the other hand lost 4-2 and 7-3 to Mozambique and Morocco respectively and are third in group A.

The match will be played at 12:30 hours followed by the two semifinal fixtures at 14:00 and 15:30 hours respectively while the final match and the match for third place will be played on October 28th.
