Karonga United, Ekhaya FC Chase Historic Final Spot

Karonga United and Ekhaya FC will battle for a place in the Airtel Top 8 final when they face off in the first semi-final at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday.

The winner will advance to the final to face either Mighty Wanderers or Blue Eagles, who meet in the second semi-final on Sunday.

Karonga United head into the match full of confidence after producing one of the competition’s most remarkable comebacks. The northern outfit overturned a 2-0 first-leg deficit against Silver Strikers by claiming a stunning 3-0 victory in the return leg at Karonga Stadium to progress 3-2 on aggregate.

Ekhaya FC also earned their semi-final place in impressive fashion. The tournament newcomers knocked out defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets after the two-legged tie ended level, before holding their nerve to triumph in a penalty shoot-out.

Saturday’s clash promises to be a closely contested encounter between two ambitious sides determined to make history. Karonga will rely on the attacking form that inspired their comeback against Silver, while Ekhaya will draw confidence from eliminating one of Malawi’s biggest clubs.

With neither side having won the Airtel Top 8 before, the stakes could not be higher. Victory will secure a place in the final and leave either Karonga United or Ekhaya FC just one match away from lifting their first-ever Airtel Top 8 trophy.
