Junior Flames in Do-or-Die Clash with South Africa

The Malawi Under-17 National Team face South Africa tomorrow in a do-or-die TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations | COSAFA Qualifiers clash at Ngoni Stadium, where only a win will keep the Junior Flames’ hopes of progressing alive.

Head Coach Enos Chatama says his charges are fully aware of the task at hand and are ready to give everything on the pitch.

“We are aware of our opponent and we are aware of the impact of the results of this match. We are going to fight lungs out to make us win the match. Tactically we’re ready and we have mentally and psychologically prepared the boys,” Chatama said after the team’s final training session at Alex Complex Sports Ground.

The coach added that the squad is in good shape, though a few players will undergo late medical assessments before the game.

“We are having few players who will be assessed by doctors if they can play tomorrow but all in all everything is in place,” he said.

A win for Malawi will secure a place in the semifinals of the competition, set to wrap up on Saturday. In the other Group B fixture, already-eliminated Zambia will take on Madagascar, who are also out of contention.
