Free Entry, Entertainment Lined Up for NDL Season Finale

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM), in partnership with NBS Bank, has announced that entry to the crowning  match of the NBS Bank National Division League between Red lions and Baka City on Sunday will be free of charge, as fans are treated to an action-packed closing ceremony at Balaka Stadium.

The announcement was made during a joint media briefing held by FAM and the league sponsor to outline activities lined up for the season finale, which will also mark the crowning of the inaugural league champions.

NBS Bank Marketing and Brands Officer Frank Magombo called on football fans to turn out in large numbers, promising an entertaining matchday experience both on and off the pitch.

“We are pleased to announce that access to the final match will be free. Fans should expect a full day of entertainment, including performances by The Blacks, Bwede and Phyzix,” said Magombo.

He added that NBS Bank account holders will automatically be entered into a draw in which 50 lucky winners will receive K10,000 each, alongside other prizes such as branded T-shirts. Supporters without accounts will also have an opportunity to open one on-site with as little as K1,000.

Magombo further expressed confidence that teams promoted from the National Division League will be competitive in the TNM Super League, noting that the league has provided valuable exposure and experience.

Meanwhile, FAM Marketing Manager Mayamiko Kafwamba described the inaugural season of the NBS Bank National Division League as largely successful.

“As the mother body, we are satisfied with how the league has unfolded from the start to this point. Being the first season, there are more positives than challenges, particularly in terms of competition and organisation,” said Kafwamba.

The final match will see champions Red Lions face runners-up Baka City, with the Lions set to be officially crowned at the conclusion of the fixture.

Red Lions will receive K15 million for finishing first, while the teams finishing second and third, Baka City and Mitundu Baptist, will earn K10 million and K5 million respectively.
