The Flames on Wednesday won their third straight training match against last season’s TNM Super League runners up Mafco.
The Flames won the match 1-0 courtesy of burly forward and vice-captain Chiukepo Msowoya’s second half strike.
It was the Flames’ last practice match as they tune up for their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations’ Group L qualifier against Guinea’s Syli Nationale scheduled for March 25 in Conakry.
Flames coach Ernest Mtawali said he was satisfied with how his charges effected the game plan.
“The plan in Conakry is to keep possession for as much as we can because in that way we can frustrate the Guineans and catch them on the break.
“Of course we do not have a full squad, but at least half of the players that may feature are the local-based players,” said Mtawali.
The Flames are scheduled to play a training match against Siera Leone in Freetown on Tuesday enroute to Conakry in which Mtawali will have a chance to assess his full-strength squad.
The Flames beat Be Forward Wanderers 3-1 in their first training match in which Chiukepo scored a brace with Jabulani Linje scoring the other while Luka Milanzi scored the consolation goal for the Nomads.
Chiukepo scored a double again in a 2-0 win over Azam Tigers.
